Description

ERM320240-4 is a 320×240 dot monochrome graphic LCD display module​ (115.17×86.37 mm active area, 122×92 mm visual area, 160×109×11.6 mm outline) built on a COB (Chip-On-Board) package with the RA8835​ controller onboard. It is offered in three LCD chemistries: ERM320240DNS-4​ (FFSTN negative, white glyphs on black), ERM320240SBS-4​ (STN negative blue, white glyphs on blue), and ERM320240FS-4​ (FSTN positive, black glyphs on white) — all with a white LED backlight​ (LED_A 5 V / LED_K 0 V, typ. 150 mA, max 200 mA). The panel uses a 6 o’clock​ preferred viewing direction, 1/64 duty, 1/9 bias.

ERM320240-4 communicates over a classic 8-bit 8080 or 6800 parallel MCU bus, selected by the IM strap, with pins for WR, RD, CS, AO (D/C), RST, DB0–DB7, VDD (4.8–5.2 V typ 5 V, abs max 6.5 V), V0 (LCD drive adjust), and VEE (negative rail). The RA8835 handles the display RAM, cursor, and scroll so the host only writes bytes. Logic supply IDD is ≤80 mA; backlight adds ≤200 mA. No SPI/I²C mode exists on this controller — it targets MCUs with a parallel bus or an 8080/6800 glue-logic shim, not low-pin-count Arduinos.

We provide RA8835 demo code, 8080/6800 timing examples, and wiring references for 8051, STM32 (FSMC), AVR with external memory bus, and generic MCU parallel ports​ on buydisplay.com. The module mounts via a 20-pin 2.54 mm pin header (GND, VDD, V0, WR, RD, CS, AO, RST, DB0–DB7, NC, VEE, LED_A, LED_K) so it drops onto a 0.1″ perf board or a dedicated carrier. No touch layer is offered.

Rated for −20~+70 ℃​ operating and −30~+80 ℃​ storage, ERM320240-4 is an indoor industrial workhorse. The datasheet’s Section 8 (labeled “OLED” by error) applies the usual LCD caution: do not hold a fixed image longer than 2 hours​ to avoid temporary ghosting — reversible by powering an all-black pattern for several hours. Handle the polarizer gently (HB-pencil hardness max, petroleum benzin for cleaning, no water/alcohol on the surface).

That is suitable for a wide range of applications, including industrial control panels, test-equipment readouts, POS auxiliary displays, medical aux screens, vending-machine UIs, and any 5 V MCU project that needs a large, readable 320×240 monochrome graphic screen with a mature RA8835 driver and parallel-bus simplicity.
