Tall Portrait 5 inch Touch Display 480×854 Pixels with Breakout Board

Description

ER-TFTM050A2-9 is a 5-inch IPS TFT LCD display​ with a tall portrait bar format of 480×854 pixels​ (61.63×109.65 mm active area, 62.63×110.65 mm visual area), pre-mounted on a breakout board​ with a 45-pin FPC (68.56×134.35 mm with FPC folded) for direct wiring to MCU/SBC carrier boards. The IPS cell gives a true 80°/80°/80°/80°​ viewing cone, 65K/262K/16.7M​ color depth, a 500:1​ typical contrast ratio, and 410 cd/m²​ brightness, so vertical menus, maps, and lists stay vivid from any mounting angle.

ER-TFTM050A2-9 integrates the ST7701S​ controller in COG packaging. It is initialized over a 3-wire SPI​ bus (LCD_SCK, LCD_MOSI, LCD_CS, LCD_RES) and then streams pixel data over a 24-bit RGB parallel interface​ (R0–R7, G0–G7, B0–B7, PCLK, HSYNC, VSYNC, DEN) — the same SPI-then-RGB sequencing as the ER-TFT040-3 family, but with full 24-bit color. The breakout takes 5 V on VCC (4.7–5.3 V)​ and internally generates 3.3 V VCCIO​ for logic; absolute max on VCC is 5.5 V. A 20 ms typical response time handles HMI graphics cleanly. The LED backlight is switched via the LCD_BLK​ pin. No touch is mounted by default.

ER-TFTM050A2-9 is offered with an optional capacitive touch panel (ER-TPC050A2-9)​ whose I²C controller is wired on the same FPC via CTP_SDA, CTP_SCL, CTP_INT, CTP_RES​ (2.8–3.3 V), giving finger/multi-touch input without a second connector. We provide ST7701S init code, RGB timing examples, and demo projects for STM32 (LTDC/RGB peripherals), i.MX/Rockchip/Pi Linux SBCs via DRM panel drivers, and ESP32-S3 (8/16-bit parallel with SPI boot)​ on buydisplay.com. Because the panel is RGB-primary, it targets MCUs/SBCs with a parallel LCD peripheral rather than low-pin-count Arduinos.

Rated for −20~+70 ℃​ operating and −30~+80 ℃​ storage, ER-TFTM050A2-9 is built for indoor enclosures and is not sunlight-readable​ — intended for backlit cabinets and console fronts, not direct outdoor sun. As with all TFT panels, avoid showing a fixed image longer than 2 hours to prevent temporary image sticking (reversible by running an all-black pattern for several hours, per the datasheet’s Section 8).

That is suitable for a wide range of applications, including industrial control consoles, smart-home wall panels, portable medical instruments, intercom and security keypads, POS side displays, and any Linux/MCU HMI project needing a tall 5-inch IPS color screen with RGB throughput, SPI boot, and optional I²C capacitive touch on one breakout.
