Description
ER-EPD3.52-1RY-5070 is a 3.52-inch four-color electrophoretic e-Paper (E-Ink) display with a 180×384 pixel format (37.98×81.02 mm active area, 43.98×93.42 mm with FPC folded) rendering white, black, red, and yellow pigments. Because it is reflective e-Paper rather than a backlit LCD, it is sunlight-readable from a true 85°/85°/85°/85° viewing cone, draws ≤8 mA during image update and only ≤5 µA in standby, and holds the last image with zero power after refresh—ideal for battery-driven static-content devices.
ER-EPD3.52-1RY-5070 integrates the JD79667 controller in COG packaging and talks to the host over 3-wire or 4-wire SPI (SCL, SDA, DC, CSB, RST, BUSY on the 24-pin 0.5 mm ZIF FPC). Logic runs at VDDIO/VCC 2.5–3.6 V typ. 3.0 V (absolute max 6.0 V on VCC), with an on-chip charge pump generating the ±source/gate/VCOM rails (VSP/VSN/VGP/VGN/VCOM/VMTP 10.1 V/VDD_15V 1.5 V) so no external high-voltage supply is needed. An optional I²C temperature-sense path (TSCL/TSDA) is exposed for waveform compensation. The 0.21×0.21 mm dot pitch and bistable pigment cell need no frame buffer refresh while idle.
ER-EPD3.52-1RY-5070 ships as a bare FPC panel and is also offered as ER-EPD3.52-1RY-5070 with an Arduino shield (plug-in for Uno/Mega/Due/Nano) and ER-EPD3.52-1RY-5103 with a Raspberry Pi HAT (40-pin Pi 3/4/Zero). We provide JD79667 demo code, SPI waveform libraries, and full-refresh/partial-refresh examples for Arduino, STM32, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi on buydisplay.com. The datasheet explicitly warns: do not leave the panel powered without refreshing—put it to sleep or power off between updates, and run a full refresh every 24 hours to 10 days to avoid permanent ghosting; partial refresh alone cannot clear accumulated image sticking.
Rated for 0~+40 ℃ operating and −25~+70 ℃ storage, the module is built for indoor-to-outdoor transit tags, shelf labels, and signage that spend most of their life unpowered. It is not a video-rate display—typical full refresh is seconds, not milliseconds, and refresh must be triggered indoors (not under direct sun mid-refresh).
That is suitable for a wide range of applications, including electronic shelf labels, warehouse bin tags, price tags, medical/industrial status cards, smart-home scene labels, and any low-power MCU/SBC project that needs a sunlight-readable 4-color static display with weeks-to-months of battery life per refresh.
To fastly get started, please consider our e-paper panel connected with arduino shield or raspberry pi HAT. Libraries and samples are available for all of them.
